The Poor and Needy Search for Water but There is None

“The poor and needy search for water but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them, I, the God of Israel will not forsake them.” Isaiah 41:17

This is the scripture I took with me to breathtakingly beautiful, West Virginia. As we shared our thoughts and feelings each evening after our day at different worksites, a few revelations began to solidify.

  • God Himself sees to the needs of the thirsty and He was filling our “cups” as He used us to minister to the needs of the people we had come to serve.

  • The tension of “heaven touching earth”, striking beauty in the midst of poverty.

  • We spoke of the tension that occurs between the Holy Spirit and poverty of spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit dances, sings, and plants flowers with children in the middle of filth and desperation.

  • God loves us and gives us worth so we can bring significance to those who may feel forgotten.

  • We can be those who bring the Good News just by picking up a hammer and working alongside each other with joy.

  • By the gift of our presence, the Lord is able to show those we came to serve, “I see you, I know where you are, and I love you.”
